Ode to an Idol

When I was a young girl, I remember channel surfing throughout the local channels to look for something to watch. Eventually it lead me and my family to see Home Along the Riles or Home Along the Railtracks, a television comedy sitcome featuring the one and only Comedy King of the Philippines, Dolphy. It was one of the most amusing shows I have watched and since then, I would often find myself laughing whenever I watch Dolphy on other shows and his interviews as he never failed to make people smile even with a short commentary. It was hsi trademark, his legacy.

As the public grieves with his passing, I recall his short commentary in an AV slide presented by ABS-CBN. Even if he passes, just press play and he’ll be there to make you smile again. May you rest in peace Dolphy, you’ll always be the Comedy King for all of us Filipinos and fans you have made throughout your life in showbiz.
