[Review] Uguisu

Hello hello! Mei is posting another review! YAY! Hopefully it is a very good one since my Hobonichi entries were earning some hits.

Since I gotten myself a hobonichi, I mostly took time searching for the best place to get Japanese-made stationery because admittedly, they have good quality and there is a sense of art in it that you can’t get anywhere else. I tried searching endlessly in Instagram (you would be surprised just how much stuff you can find now in Instagram), Facebook (the sellers) and even Google. I did get some hits but they did not have international shipping. However, recently I was able to stumble upon Uguisu.

Uguisu (uguisustore.com) is a specialty store based in Tokyo, Japan and their repertoire of items ranges from stationery and home decoration items. Some of their items are also from independent artists so you can expect some rarity in these items. A few pieces are even limited in numbers so you have to keep watch!

What I bought:

a Ten-To-Sen 3 washi roll set (the Shigemi) – The patterns reminds me of forests but in a simple setting. The colors are also quite vibrant You can check other styles in http://classiky.co.jp

an Irago Tomomi + Classiky 2 washi roll set (Animals) – Somehow, it reminds me of a child’s doodle of animals. Quite cute actually!

Mihoko Seki Thank you Card (20 pieces/ Cat) – Small thank you cards for those special days. It has another design. If i remember, it is the Kokeshi one.

Finally, Mihoko Seki’s paper furoshiki – Actually its not a furoshiki but it acts like one. You can use it for your biscuits (like a small plate) and small items. Its a wrapper, yet its not. Kinda confusing I know. But you can use it anywhere.

The prices of Uguisu are quite affordable. All of this were only around $20 dollars or so. What is slightly difficult with purchasing from Uguisu is the fact you can’t choose which of their available shipping options you want. I wanted to get the Express but I gotten the registered SAL. Nonetheless, it had tracking. Thats the best thing with Japan Post. Would I purchase again? Most definitely so! I wonder what next I can discover! You guys will find out soon!
