Konnichassu!

Well here is day 3 of #jetsettintokyo and its a pretty big photo heavy post. In this entry, we’ll look into our trip around Asakusa and the famous teamLAB display at Mori Art Building in Odaiba: Borderless.

Photos and their captions are below!

Our first point of business was lunch at Ichiran Asakusa. We decided to leave late because our appointment at Borderless is around 6 pm. So we had lunch here. It was a good call because there was a line when we got there.

Untitled

My ramune soda drink to partner with my ramen. They didn’t have soda during our trip. Might be sold out.

Untitled

Ichiran I have missed you thee!

Untitled

It was a hot walk to Kaminarimon Gate on our way to Sensoji. When I was last here, this place was under construction. And the lantern in the middle wasn’t raised like that.

Untitled

Nakamise is filled with people as usual

Untitled

Sensoji right here!

Untitled

After our short visit at Sensoji, we grabbed some souvenirs and stuff to eat. I went to this place, the same taiyaki stand me and my brother tried when we were in the area 2 years ago. I bought their plum flavored one because it was their specialty taiyaki for the season. My sister later said it tastes like perfume but it was good. I also got the same peanut sticks we had when we were last there.

Dashed off to Yurikamome in Shinbashi Station, the monorail to Odaiba. In this pic, you can definitely see the shinkansen pass by.

First view of Rainbow Bridge.

Untitled

If you zoom in this pic, you will see the Straw Hat Pirates. There was a ONE PIECE event when we passed by this area in Odaiba.

Untitled

Argh! The Unicorn Gundam… sooo far away!

Untitled

Had to make do with this far zoomed shot.

Untitled

Not so sure what this is but it looks like a mini festival.

Untitled

Miraikan Museum. Great place to see what the future will bring.

Untitled

A view of Oedo Onsen. I wanted to visit here but no time. Next time, when its in Winter.

Untitled

Mori Art Building is near Aomi Station. You only have to walk from here to get to Borderless and Venus Fort which is beside it.

Untitled

Found this weird event in Venus Fort’s outdoor area. Not sure which girl group was performing.

Untitled

We also had a short look around Toyota’s facility in the area. Here you can test run some of Toyota’s cars (you must have a license with you and pay a fee) or see their history. This one is from their racing division.

Untitled

The brand new Toyota Supra.

Untitled

Palette Town’s gondola. Took this pic while we waited for Judes to arrive.

Untitled

Aahhh Zepp Tokyo. I would like to watch my favorite bands here. But, no time for that.

Untitled

Yay Borderless! Just a quick note, you can purchase your tickets in advance before you visit. There is a day pass and an evening pass (Which we took). Judes said, after our run around the place, that it is better to take the evening pass because it is not as crowded as in the mornings. We actually finished the entire place in 2 hours rather than 4.

If you have bags with you, they do have locker rooms available in the entrance (make sure to have 100 yen ready!). Strollers can also be parked in the same area. As far as babies are concerned, it is best to ask your pedia if you can bring them here. There’s a lot of changing lights inside and it can affect your baby’s eyes. We brought my 6 month old nephew here and we pretty much did not have problems about him getting distracted by the lights. Before we even entered the first display, he fell asleep and remained asleep until we got out.

Babies are free to enter Borderless.

Untitled

On your way around Borderless, you get to see these helpful spirits to guide you to the next display. If you want to learn more about the display, you can also download the official teamLab app. The app will help you move around the dark spaces of any teamLab facility and give you an idea about what they are.

The first display we checked, and admittedly the most popular display, is the Forest of Resonating Lamps. The lamps do change ever so often and there is a time limit of 5 minutes.

Here is a video inside the forest!

Untitled

Untitled

We also checked out this one… forgot the full name of this… but it looks like you are passing in a waterfall of lights and the sound won’t help add to that idea. The lights do change ever so often.

Untitled

This photo is from their seasonal display which featured a rice field. When you touch the “paddies”, the plants sway and change colors. You can even see fishes swimming around.

Untitled

This one is in the flower garden display. The subject in this cool photo is my high school buddy Judes, who took us around the crazy lines. My niece loves her very much since they clicked with all the K-pop madness. OMG!

Untitled

Untitled

From the same installation. These ones features my beautiful niece.

The camera I used for these shots is an iPhone Xs. No photo edits in each one at all.

Untitled

This installation is near the gallery’s most popular display, the Universe of Water Particles on a Rock where People Gather.

Of course, we didn’t miss out on Sketch Aquarium. I actually had loads of fun doing my shark which I named “Mekin Shark”. After you color your selected animal, you can give it to the staff who will scan it and it will appear in the aquarium.

The jellyfish on the top part is my niece’s work. She based it from the Jellyfish from Spongebob

Of course I have to have a colorful selfie!! I do have some others in my private social media account XDD

Even the floors are littered with flowers!

Untitled

Here are some other great shots I took of my buddy! You can’t put down your phone for a long time in Borderless! There’s always a photo opportunity!

Untitled

This one is the waterfall display. The colors also change ever so often.

Untitled

Yes, you can do this infinity photo which I repeated ever so often during that night

Untitled

Its too hard not to stop!

Untitled

After 2 hours, we walked our way back to the Yurikamome with a very funny moment during the trip.

Catching the trip from Shimbashi Station to our home back in Nippori

Untitled

Our dinner for the night is this very fulfilling kebab from this food cart in front of our hotel!

Untitled

Tried to read this but I couldn’t finish it since i was sooo tired! If anyone knows where I can read it for free, do share!

Final instalment of #jetsettintokyo in the next update !!! Watch out for it!
