Konnichassu!

Hallo hallo! Yes, updating today because I just feel like it and thats what life makes you when you are in lockdown at home and have only a few chosen things to do.

Today is the beginning of week 5 of the Enhanced Community Quarantine throughout Luzon and well, things are pretty silent from where I am right now. From what my mum would say, everyone got used to the new norm of staying indoors (especially if you don’t have the quarantine pass to go out to buy stuff) even if many are against it due to their financial status. Since there’s no work, many people are starting to get angry and desperate because the financial and welfare relief promised by the national and local government is taking time to get to them. While I understand the feeling they are going through, we can’t really get mad at the government – especially the national government- because they have been running on overtime because of this crisis. One can only do so much in one day when there’s a lot of work to be done and even if you have a lot of people with you, not everyone can handle the tasks currently on pending.

Since our area had the first recorded case of COVID-19 positive in our municipality, we can’t really go out often to get stuff unless its on the designated day we . Fortunately our local municipality constantly delivers food aid. Yesterday, they delivered live milkfish and some veggies to go with it. A week before that, we got chicken, canned goods and rice. I’m very thankful that they are able to deliver aid to us as efficiently as they could and I hope that other local governments can do the same too.

While still doing my work (yes, work never stops for yours truly since it is mostly focused on online tasks), occasionally cooking (I am in charge of steak and shrimp dinners since we have some on stock and snacks), and the usual mobile gaming farming (Arknights mostly. Although I do keep an active FGO account to rake in some credits), I got my digital copy of the much anticipated game of the year, Final Fantasy VII Remake. I managed to play the original when I was a kid and it was a 4 disc game. My older brother played it mostly with me and my younger brother watching. I forgot if we managed to make it to the end, but the game has made an impact in me. I have played other Final Fantasy games that followed it (minus VIII, X, X-2, XII, and the XIII franchises) and my latest is Final Fantasy XV (which I have yet to fully finish since I have yet to get Episode Ardyn to complete my trophy counter).

I was supposed to get a physical copy after the original period of the quarantine ends (Which was supposed to be yesterday), but I opted to get a digital copy when I saw that the release date of the game was 2 days before the end of the original quarantine. I wasn’t able to get credits from the Singapore Playstation Store where I have a main account for my PS4 (odd they don’t have a Philippine Playstation Store yet), but I was able to buy from the US Playstation Store using my other account. The download did take an odd turn because a few days into the game pre-loading last week, my internet decided to die on me. At first, my brother claims it was because we hit the data cap of my net (Which is totally incorrect since I have an unlimited plan). We also thought it was a maintenance in my area but when I contacted my provider, it was my line that has issues and they have to check it out. Since I reported that problem, they still haven’t checked the issue and I am annoyed. To finish the download, I ended up having to use my mobile data to get my game loaded up completely.

After spending roughly around $10 on mobile data credits, the game fully loaded a day after it was released.

Playing the game though in those first few minutes? MAN! HYPE IS REAL! It is really beyond expectations and clearly Square Enix took a lot of time to ensure the Remake isn’t half-cooked. The graphics are intense and thus explains the 86 GB worth of memory for this one game. The character models remind me of Final Fantasy XV when it comes to the level of detail, and somehow, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (ahhh! memories!) As of this writing, I have been playing it for the past 2 days and what is sleep and work! It keeps you hooked to the point you don’t want to put down the controller. I am also playing it using the Japanese audio and boy oh boy! Takahiro Sakurai as Cloud is epic and the Sephiroth appearances… ARGH! I can’t wait for Vincent’s appearance! I also love Maaya Sakamoto as Aerith. She is sooo witty! That’s all I have to say so far about the game because I’m halfway through it but I plan to do the Hard Mode once it appears and get my coveted Platinum trophy award for it! I did the same for FFXV when the first patch was released.

Anyway, that is it from yours truly for the meantime. Not much to plug and talk about with this lockdown still ongoing. I do have slight cabin fever but its mostly because my supply is running low. Haha, so much adulting! Lol!

Now time for me to wait till my brother lets go of the controller and go back to Midgar!
