Hello everyone,
My name is Mei and I welcome you all to the official site of my pet project, #projectapollo – the interspace of dreams.
Why Write #projectapollo?
This project of mine is brought by a couple of factors. First, I was running out of ideas of what to do with my blog site because of the current pandemic. It wasn’t right for me to post about new merch that I have purchased since I was stuck at home as if I am flexing.
Second, I wanted to go back to my roots when it comes to being a writer. Since I was in high school, I love writing fictional pieces from poems to stories. Some of them I published, some I didn’t. As time went on, I haven’t done much of these fictional pieces because I couldn’t find the muse to do one that is perfect and consistent.
However, when I wrote the original three-shot of this project in 2017, there was this nagging feeling coming from my mind that says “Hey Mei, you should think about doing something larger than this three-shot. It could use some work“. I did ignore it but with the current climate and I was inspired by reading mangas, novels and even manhwas (I am reading some good ones recently), I thought, “what the heck, let’s do it!“
The final factor that made me agree to making #projectapollo a reality is to start off my year right. September has always been a special month for me because it is my birth month. Every year, I try to do something special for this month but everything is pretty much all postponed to the next year until the pandemic is over. Since its my big 3-0 this year, why not start it with a bang with this one?
Inspiration Behind #projectapollo
#projectapollo was originally conceptualized in 2017 when I decided to surprise my very good friend Kimberly Gill on her birthday that year. If memory serves me, I changed the layout of her blog, gave her a new minion and wrote the three-shot that is the foundation of this project all in a span of two hours.
The effect of the three-shot to her and those who read it was interesting to say the least that I did get an inspiration to create the novel now.
To expand the three-shot to a full-fledged story, I dove into fanfiction, light novels, mangas and manhwas to get the world I wanted. I also took a little tour around mythologies because the original three-shot had Greek myth influences on them that made the stories inspiring. It will be seen throughout the story.
The title #projectapollo is from the title of the second part of the three-shot story entitled “a prayer for apollo“. The second part, “the interspace of dreams“, is related to one of the themes of the story.
How long will it be?
I plan to write two books for this story, comprising 20 chapters per book. However, it can be longer depending on the comments of the people who get the chance to read this entry.
The first book will be set from 2015 to 2017, while the second book will be set from 2018 to 2020. Details as to why will be seen in the novel.
A special book will be made in between for special events like Christmas, Birthdays and whatnots.
How often are you updating?
I will try my best to update twice every week. But, life is life and it will throw wrenches on me once in a while. If I am late in my entries, I will make up for it.
Beta readers?
There are two. One rabbit and one puppy.
Anything else?
I hope everyone enjoys the novel because I enjoyed conceptualizing this one. They do say anticipation can lead to a lot of things.
I thank you all for coming and can’t wait to hear your comments as the chapters come rolling!
